As an arranger and composer, Andrew owns and is Director of JozzBeat Music Publishing P/L, a print music publishing company which produces the highly regarded “JozzBeat” range of print music and education resources for the school market. This music is sold throughout Australia via a number of retailers as well as internationally via the internet web site. A number of Andrew’s pieces are also published in The USA and Europe by other publishing companies.
Andrew is also one of the busiest freelance commercial arrangers
in Australia having arranged for events such as Australian Idol, The Sydney
Opera House 30th Birthday Gala Concert, concerts involving the Sydney and
Adelaide Symphony Orchestras, Eurovision Song Contest, television ads, the
2006 Channel 9 Theme Song and many others.
His arrangements appear on many of Australia’s top jazz artists CD’s,
such as Janet Seidel, Dan Barnett, Swingcity, Emma Pask, Mark Rivett, Sydney
All Star Big Band, MBF “Accentuate The Positive”, Wayne Cornell
Jr., NSW Dept. of Education Secondary “Schools Spectacular”
and others.
Andrew is also heavily involved with music education and conducts
a number of Sydney secondary school big bands and jazz ensembles. He is
Director of the NSW Dept. of Education Performing Arts Unit Jazz Orchestra
and Jazz Ensemble. Andrew also conducts workshops and lectures throughout
Australia for primary and secondary music students and music teachers on
improvisation in the classroom environment.
He has also been “Artist in Residence” at the James Cook University,
lecturing on jazz improvisation, arranging and big band conducting. Andrew
is also an International Association for Jazz Education registered clinician.
